How a Sassy Golden-Haired Beauty Brought A Storage Dream to Life

     The banner read “Opening Day – August 1st – Come and see what the newest Cincinnati, Ohio, self storage facility has to offer you!” “Do you think people will come?” Sam asked his wife of twenty plus years. Lisa beamed at her husband, “Of course they will, Sam. Don’t you go worrying about it – it’s not going to add anything but grey hairs to that fine head of yours!”

Lisa was known for speaking her mind. If she had an opinion, then you weren’t allowed to leave the room until you heard it. And if she had full confidence in Sam’s abilities to make it as a storage facility owner – Sam had all the support he needed.

This storage company had been a long time dream of Sam’s. Growing up in a family of farmers, Sam’s parents had always expected their son to take on the family business. Sure, Sam had tried it for a bit but cows and manure just weren’t his forte. He took a chance and enrolled in a business program at the Carl H. Lindner College of Business – a division of the University of Cincinnati.

The academic outline for Sam’s first class looked about as interesting as a pile of sticks, but when a sassy golden-haired beauty approached him and told him that he was going to be her study partner for the term – Sam was all in. That sassy blonde woman became his wife and Lisa had known from day one that her husband had the skills to achieve his dream. He just needed a bit more confidence. And that was a task that Lisa took on with full force – and now that dream was coming true.

Sam smiled at his confident wife and said, “Honey, you go on home, I’m just going to take one last look around the place to make sure it is perfect for tomorrow.” “Sure thing,” Lisa replied. “You take all the time you need.” Lisa left the office and Sam heard her start their old Ford pickup and drive off. If this business did as well as they hoped, he’d be buying her that car she’d always wanted in a jiffy.

Sam closed up the office and walked down the long aisle of storage units. Bright blue metal capped with silver grey roofs – boy did they look good. Lisa had been doing all she could to promote the opening day – writing online blogs, posting ads in the local newspapers and chatting about it to practically everyone she met. Yea, that woman was a wonder to be sure.

Lisa had insisted that it should be a 24 hour storage facility – and had managed to rustle up several volunteers from our church to provide office help for the longer and busier days. We had everything from small storage units to units big enough to be classified as vehicle or boat storage units. Yes sir, this place was a beauty. And Lisa was right. Worrying was only going to give him grey hairs. And with that thought, Sam smiled and walked back towards his car daydreaming of the business he would get in the days to come.
